Expert ability to juggle multiple clients (large, small, all different industries) and internal responsibilities (creating RFPs, leading team, etc). Someone who can LEAD, not just MANAGE. When team is stressed, helping to motivate and lead them through, not adding to the stress. Description: The Director of SEO leads the SEO practice for this agencies US operation. They are responsible for developing their SEO approach ensuring it is cutting edge and fit for the future in a dynamic and fast changing search market. This person will set the vision for SEO and then deliver that vision end to end for clients across technical SEO, local search, link dev, digital PR and beyond. This team is looking for someone who can be scrappy and in the weeds, but can also navigate challenging clients as a chameleon. The current SEO team is 5 people, and that team can ebb and flow (they may bring on contractors to handle projects etc.). Want someone who has solid experience leading teams that understands all aspects and challenges of team dynamics. When work gets overwhelming, they want this person to calm the team down, lead them through the storm, rally everyone around the efforts to get it done. This person will need to be technically very strong with SEO, and be up to speed on emerging technology, how SEO is changing and growing. Also need someone who can be client-friendly; show up well to presentations and dialogue, not mousy, but not so rigid that it can rub someone the wrong way. Breakdown of responsibilities: 50% - Client Delivery: • Deliver market leading SEO solutions for clients that help them grow their digital estates profitably. • Take client briefs and develop SEO strategies and solutions that deliver against the brief. • Monitor performance to ensure we are delivering work that is on spec and on brief. • Manage and develop strong sr. level client relationships by delivering great work that builds trust and creates opportunities for expansion. • Maintain strong client satisfaction scores and grow client revenues. 20% - Management and Operations: • Own and optimize our SEO processes and workflows. • Work with Account Management to identify and eliminate potential operational issues. • Align with US leadership team on a regular basis to discuss client performance, opportunities, and needs. • Identify potential new technology partners and evaluate tools for inclusion in daily processes. • Manage the virtual P and L for SEO practice. • Mentor members of the team and manage direct reports to ensure high levels of motivation and delivery • Collaborate with the WW Head of Performance marketing and US leadership on new SEO opportunities. • Lead new SEO pitches from brief through to presentation and contracting to close. • Lead the SEO responses as part of integrated multi channel pitches working with other subject matter experts including paid media, strategy, CRM, and content. • Engage the teams across the business with case studies and key SEO developments to drive awareness and adoption of our SEO proposition internally. • Work with account management teams to identify and secure SEO engagements with existing clients who don’t currently adopt our SEO services. • Represent the company at external events and conferences to raise awareness of our proposition externally. • Assist with the development of thought leadership pieces, case studies, and other marketing initiatives. 10% - Team Development: • Train and develop the team with market leading SEO subject matter expertise. • Manage and develop direct reports to continuously evolve and improve their knowledge and capabilities. • Encourage a collaborative and transparent work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications: • Expert level of knowledge of Google Analytics and data more broadly. • Deep understanding of AI as it relates to the responsible application within SEO field. • Well developed and evidence based view of how AI will change SEO and impact on clients over the next 2 -3 years. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Experience working with B2B, B2C, and Ecommerce verticals. • Ability to analyze complex issues and develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations to solve client challenges. • High levels of integrity, autonomy, and self-motivation. • Strong managerial experience, including experience developing and mentoring a team. • Ability to think strategically and make innovative recommendations that drive client goals. • Ability to nurture and retain client and employee relationships. • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. • Experience working with financial data and budgets.
