Geotechnical Staff Engineer

to be based in

San Jose, California .This position is expected to begin in May or June 2024.As an AECOM Graduate Engineer, you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of project scopes, types, and technical challenges. You will be supported to take on responsibility gradually and encouraged to build technical and project management skills, as well as interdisciplinary business development soft skills.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Support field activities including exploratory logging, observation of deep foundation construction, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnically relevant construction.Complete field, analytical, and project administrative tasks with direction and support from peers and leadership.Perform settlement analyses, liquefaction analyses, and seismic evaluations.Perform site-specific seismic hazard and ground-response analysis.Perform numerical modeling using finite-element methods as implemented in PLAXIS.Design earth-retaining structures, bridge foundations, and embankment construction.Develop geotechnical recommendations, plans, and specifications for the construction of private and public projects.Learn increasingly more complex, non-routine tasks with review and oversight from senior staff.Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.Preferred Qualifications:Degree emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering.Passed the E.I.T. exam.M.S. degree or Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with emphasis Geotechnical Engineering.Relevant internship or field experience.Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Products.Experience with numerical modeling, seismic hazard analysis, and GIS.Must be comfortable working expeditiously in a dynamic and diverse environment.Additional Information
