Conducts market & industrial research to understand trends for supplier collaboration /integration initiatives, design partnership and engineering services. Identifies new suppliers and technologies for sourcing strategy to Commodity Management and cross functional team to optimize time to market, cost and risk management. Develops, facilitates, and documents key activities within in supplier selection including all aspects of timelines, scope and costs. Provides and details clear decision-making tools to identify best supplier selection for any given project within the organization. Portfolio will be of moderate complexity and scope. Principal Accountabilities: Develop and drive market research for all applications, industry standards, and technology trends within supplier portfolio. Identify and develop new and existing suppliers based on the current and future needs of the business. Maintain relationship with existing suppliers to ensure alignment within identified commodity structure. Collaboratively work with R&D and cross functional teams to identify new suppliers and develop supplier selection and qualification criteria. Follow cross-functional procurement strategies to ensure the linkage of commodity strategies and technological market trends. Develop, maintain and facilitate all proper documentation needed to address transparency within the supplier selection process ensuring alignment to regional and or commodity strategy and the scope of all project needs. Lead supply base consolidation/product transfer project needed for business purposes to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule and quality. Support continual cost reduction initiatives and process enhancement at the suppliers, by supporting strategic supplier management process through implementing continual quality improvement, process reliability and enhanced initiatives related to new technologies, redesign or alternate suppliers. Act as technical liaison between R&D or cross functional teams and suppliers in New Production Introduction process to ensure the achievement of gate targets. Provide guidance for developing project level SOW to support the entire project lifecycle, be actively involved in product development/manufacturing process as well as undertaking cost reduction measures (design to cost, target costing, standardization, etc.) by including suppliers and conduct cost-benefit analysis workshops with key suppliers to concentrate on the key functions of the components/projects to achieve the target costs for materials and reduce the overall Product cost. Support activity to achieve the agreed procurement product target cost and realization timeline, translate product target into purchasing component targets, set up and lead the action plan within strategic purchasing and the project team. Support New Product Introduction and Key Engineering Projects within the organization by contributing to the product development make and buy decisions (own design, co-design and ODM). Considered the interface partner for (product) development with suppliers. Drive supplier collaboration by integrating suppliers in the concept phase of the new product introduction process. Perform supplier risk assessment for New Product Introduction programs. Develop and implement risk mitigation plans for supply and manufacturing. Create and maintain the project procurement plan and purchasing readiness review process. Participate in workgroups and work in projects in order to stay informed and keep others informed, and exert influence at an early stage. Support activities planned by business lines in order to harmonize and implement the technological line-of-business strategies with procurement strategies thru the implementation of a value analysis model (VAVE) in tracking actual versus target costing. Develop and research cost improvement opportunities related to new technologies, redesign and alternative suppliers. Perform other duties as needed and assigned. Minimum Requirements: BS degree in relevant engineering or business discipline. Related Experience: 2-5 years’ experience working in related functional areas (esp. development, quality, project business) or in procurement with cross-functional working experience in a project at a related functional area. Experience in international organization will be considered as an advantage. Medical OEM experience is a plus. Project management experience is a plus. Special Competencies or Certifications: Excellent communication skills are required. Ability to lead projects. Provides guidance and feedback to peers and managers. Ability to discuss and lead conversations around technical and business issues with all levels of management. Self-starter and requires minimal supervision.
