This position provides sustainability expertise as coordinator of the regional St. Louis Green Business Challenge; The Sustainability Program Coordinator- Green Business also assists with advancing Garden internal green initiatives within the built and natural environments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for coaching, implementing and promoting sustainability principles and practices to businesses. Acts as Green Resource Advisor and Coordinator for the St. Louis Green Business Challenge and all of the Garden’s green business contracts including:

Developing scorecard tracking mechanisms Recruiting new business and municipalities as program participants Negotiating, confirming and communicating with program sponsors Conducting site visits to participants Providing ongoing email and phone support to program participants Coordinating monthly programs and/or tours Providing recommendations to all in the green business programs Facilitating problem-solving within the businesses to advance their green operations Coordinating annual awards programs and production of an annual Green Business Case Study booklet.

Researches and evaluates sustainability factors of materials, processes, goods and services used within the Garden on an ongoing basis. Provides public education programs to businesses and community organizations at their sites. Acts as Sustainability Division liaison to varied business associations in Missouri and Illinois. Manages program budgets, fee-for-service work and other fundraising efforts as they relate to the division’s Green Business work. Tracks and reports all program results to funders and partners. Assists with research, coordination, and support as needed

to advance Garden's internal built and natural environments and operations in order to align with our sustainability mission. Contribute as needed with community and regionally based sustainability programs, projects and efforts. Participate in all sustainability events in the Garden and community as needed, including working shifts on evenings and weekends. Represents Sustainability and MBG through requested media and in-person presentations. Ensures that all applicable safety standards are followed; informs employees/students/volunteers of safety guidelines, methods to reduce hazards. Reports all accidents, injuries and near-miss accidents immediately. Meets expected attendance guidelines. Follows and adheres to established policies and procedures, including but not limited to Employee Handbook, Garden Safety Guidelines and Department Policies. Behaves and communicates in a manner that promotes and fosters a culture of teamwork and cooperation, within our division and throughout the Garden, with co-workers, supervisors/managers, volunteers, visitors and employees. Attends regular check in meetings with manager, as well as department and division staff meetings Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position may supervise Green Business Challenge subcontractors, interns and volunteers. Communication

– Promotes and adheres to sustainability, safety and security protocols; Fosters a culture of respect, diversity and inclusion; Demonstrates effective and prudent use of Garden resources; Maximizes contributions during work hours. Qualifications/Experience: Three (3) years related experience in advising and problem solving on sustainability issues and actions. Three (3) years’ experience in researching, developing, coordinating, delivering and implementing sustainability related programs and tasks with professional audiences including businesses and governmental units. Special consideration given to those with more than two years’ experience in coordinating specific green business programs such as the St. Louis Green Business Challenge. Experience in evaluating various types of sustainability related materials, claims and equipment. Demonstrated experience in program development and delivery including various virtual delivery methods. Multi-tasking ability to work on several programs involving a variety of client situations simultaneously Prior experience in generating

grants and contracts, program reports and managing program budgets. Requires occasional flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays. Ability to travel to multiple community based locations on a weekly basis required. The Garden is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our employees, volunteers and guests. ability to effectively perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculate percentages and decimals; etc. Reasoning Ability: Requires ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution. Ability to exercise independent judgment in the observation, analysis and resolution of issues. Ability to exercise independent judgment in the allocation of resources. Computer Skills: Solid skills in multiple virtual delivery options. Knowledge and comfort with different online meeting and communication platforms such as video conferencing, social media, survey development, website, etc. Physical Demands: Ability to utilize computer keyboard (typing) and operate standard office equipment (i.e. copier, printer, fax, etc.) Ability to work both indoors and out. Requires extensive standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching for extended periods of time-- 50% or more of the workday is standing on feet. Ability to lift up to (20) pounds (i.e.,

load, unload and move boxes, supplies and equipment). May be required to perform tasks at varying heights (i.e., step stools, etc.). Works in a shared cubicle environment. Contacts with Individuals/Organizations inside/outside the Garden: Other Garden employees, volunteers, interns, members and visitors. Employees of businesses, especially those in the St. Louis Green Business Challenge and with the Garden’s Corporate Members. General public program and event audiences.
