As a critical member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will rely on their strong personal initiative to lead projects, mentor more junior staff members, and represent Operations in cross-departmental projects and collaboration efforts. Their success will be validated by their effective and efficient cross-departmental communication and collaboration resulting in waste and variation reduction, and the timely closure of assignments. Their primary responsibilities include the development and support of production flow, assembly methods, test sequences, and the overall processes required to produce our highly complex electronic assemblies. Additionally, Manufacturing Engineering implements NPIs into production, drives Manufacturing Process Improvements, supports Lean / Continuous Improvement Programs, and provides engineering support to the Production team for sustaining and line-down issues. There is a strong emphasis on minimizing issues in Production through prevention, risk mitigation, and resolving problems through lasting root cause corrective action methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI) into Production and the maintenance, sustaining, and improvement of existing product lines.
  • Establish and improve upon manufacturability guidelines and effectively communicate strategies in supporting NPI activities.
  • Evaluate new designs and work with Engineering and other stakeholders to achieve manufacturability and production test goals.
  • Conduct DFMEA, DFX and PFMEA analysis on new designs.
  • Develop, procure, and implement processes and fixturing to support the safe, efficient, repeatable, and predictable production of new designs.
  • During development of processes and fixturing, evaluate often and thoroughly with Production, Engineering, and other stakeholders. Capture and incorporate feedback.
  • Interface with all levels of Production employees to understand Operator requirements and to evaluate the effect of design decisions on Operator safety, comfort, and ability to produce high quality products at established cost and volume requirements.
  • Train Production personnel and mentor more junior members of the Manufacturing Team to do likewise.
  • rioritize red light line-down conditions and adjust schedule accordingly.
  • Identify areas for waste reduction and process improvements in Production as well as departmental practices and processes.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff for Lean Six Sigma (LSS) practices and initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in a Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience or its equivalent through education and other engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing processes in an electronic device manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as part of a cross-functional team
  • Proven hands-on engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and building the best processes
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced iterative design environments within a complex electro-mechanical manufacturing industry
  • Proven proficiency with DFMEA, DFX and PFMEA methodology and implementation as demonstrated by a relevant portfolio of work
  • Documented experience driving projects and communicating project status and updates to all levels of leadership
  • Strong and demonstrated skills in 3D CAD Modeling Software (preferred)
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (preferred)
