Serve as Executive Producer for all programming on WJAB-TV and WJAB-FM. Serve as advisor to departmental students. Work air shift as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate all day-to-day operations/technical support for Electronic Media Communications, ensuring compliance with broadcast standards, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assigns, allocates work, and supervises staff of producers and hosts of programming. The staff will include a combination of full-time and part-time employee's volunteers, students, and interns.
  • Oversee the capture, editing, storage and distribution of all weekly downlink recording.
  • Oversee download, storage, and maintenance of music files.
  • Oversee scheduling of programming for all EMC facilities.
  • Oversee the activities of EMC to provide students and interns with real-world training opportunities.
  • Provide technical, editing and production support for radio staff, volunteers and students as needed for studio interviews and remote recording.
  • Ensure compliance with operations regulations.
  • Participate in fund drive preparation and production.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in mass communications or related field.
  • Three to five years of successful experience in a supervisory position, preferably in public broadcasting.
  • Working knowledge of content delivery system technologies.
  • Experience in producing news/public affairs programming highly desirable
  • Experience with digital audio and video production and automation software
  • Experience dealing with a university environment and knowledge of public media operations and technology, creativity, strong planning skills, and experience in program production and scheduling.
  • Commitment to providing learning opportunities for students.
  • Must have previous work experience working in a university setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable of current public radio standards and procedures as they pertain to the operation of a non-commercial broadcast stations
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, conventions and protocols relating to the delivery of news and public affairs broadcasts
  • Knowledge of broadcasting techniques/procedures, protocols, and standards
  • Knowledge of news, public affairs, and specialty television and radio program production
  • Skill in the use of journalistic research and methods and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to develop and deliver news reports and public affairs programs
  • Ability to supervise and train employees to include organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments
  • Ability to participate in developing, planning, and implementing short-and long-range goals
  • Ability to make broadcast programming decisions within define parameters
