The HR Generalist is a member of the Human Resources department, this position performs para-professional/ technical work in various program areas such as recruitment, employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, benefit administration, and leave of absence administration. The HR Generalist also develops and drives creative HR initiatives and activities and serves as a liaison between the human resources department and members of the Lyons Magnus management team.
Pay Range: $25.00-$28.00/ Per hour
Shift Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm or as needed
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Position Type: In-office full time
Core Responsibilities
- Compliance: Ensure compliance of company policies, including pre-employment processes, hiring, training, and payroll practices in accordance with legal guidelines.
- Recruitment & Onboarding : Develop and oversee new hire orientation and onboarding efforts. This includes full-cycle recruiting: identifying staff vacancies, oversee job announcements, recruit, review job applications/resumes, coordinating interviews, conduct phone and in-person interviews, extend job offers, coordinate pre-employment process, and facilitate new employee orientation and training.
- Benefits Administration: Administer all tasks related to benefits, including but not limited to open enrollment, qualifying events, reconciliation of invoices, and inputting payroll with deductions (child support, levy's, garnishments, etc.)
- Leave of Absence Administration: Administer leave of absences in accordance with Federal and State employment laws. This includes but is not limited to engaging in the interactive process, providing employees with designation letters and notice of rights and responsibility, tracking medical certifications, and communicating with supervisors regarding return to work dates and accommodations.
- Employee Relations : Assist with investigating a variety of employee-related issues, incidents and complaints; resolve disputes and recommend appropriate/remedial actions. Assist in the employee termination process (including but not limited to coordinating final paycheck, performing exit interviews, and completing exit paperwork).
- Employee Files & Reporting: Maintains and updates employee information. Prepares reports as designated by the HR leadership. Complies and analyzes data for accurate and objective measurements of HR performance.
- Employee Recognition: Promotes a fun and engaging employee environment. Helps to plan and coordinate employee recognition events, including but not limited to employee picnics, holiday events, and retirement celebrations.
- Payroll: Assist with payroll processing, processing variances, inputting deductions (including but not limited to child support, levy's, garnishments, etc.) and provides backup to payroll as needed.
- Maintains and updates employee information. Prepares reports as designated by the HR leadership. Complies and analyzes data for accurate and objective measurements of HR performance.
- Performs other duties as reasonably assigned.
- Consistently adheres to established standards to ensure confidentiality and compliance of state and federal regulations.
- Consistently follows established safety policies and procedures.
- Adheres to policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Attends and actively participates in required huddles, meetings, and trainings.
- Maintains professional appearance to promote a positive image of the organization to partnering agencies and the community.
- Adheres to all food safety and GMP policies
- Supports the mission, values and vision of the company.
- Maintains the best interest of Lyons Magnus first and foremost.
- Work with employees of Lyons Magnus in a positive and constructive manner to maintain a professional relationship. Demonstrates courtesy, discretion, friendliness and diplomacy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to exhibit discretion while working with confidential and sensitive information
- Familiar with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Understanding, interpreting and applying rules, regulations, policies, laws and ordinances.
- Standard office practices and procedures, including Microsoft Office Suite, databases, HRIS software, filing systems and records management.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and discretion.
- Develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Use good judgement and integrity.
- Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred, not required.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university in the area of Human Resources Management or related field required.
- One to Three years of experience in human resources or risk management support work preferred.
- HR Certified preferred (HRCI or SHRM)
