This is a temporarily funded part-time (20 hours per week) position with an end date of 12/31/24, renewable based upon availability of funding via grants, work performance, and progress toward research goals.

Purpose

The Global Disinformation Lab in the College of Liberal Arts is seeking an experienced Grants and Contracts Specialist to support our growing operations and work with a variety of faculty members and research staff across the University in the submission and administration of research grants. This is a part-time position with funding for one-year. Continuation of the position is contingent on funding.

Responsibilities

Grant Identification

  • Become familiar with current and future GDIL projects in order to have a firm understanding of their nature and needs.
  • Working with GDIL Leadership, search for and identify potential funding opportunities from a variety of sponsors including private foundations, government, and industry.
  • Set up and maintain a database of potential funders.

Pre-Award Activity

  • Support faculty, graduate students, and other research staff at each stage of their proposal submission including proposal formatting, budget creation, budget justifications and other sections of grant applications including subcontracts.
  • Advise and ensure adherence to all federal and university guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Work closely with and serve as liaison between COLA Grants and GDIL Leadership or the PI to ensure compliance, completeness of sponsor and UT requirements, and timely approval.
  • Work with administrative offices on award acceptance and project account set up including sub-awards

Post-Award Activity

  • Support faculty and research staff in preparing and submitting post-award documents including annual research grant reports, publications compliance, IRB approvals and other documents as needed, in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with GDIL Lab Manager who manages accounting processes to inform of limitations or regulations of funding.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with at least five years of experience in the research, preparation, processing, and negotiation of research grants and contract proposals. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Experience with both federal grants and non-profit philanthropic grants.
  • Successful record of managing a high-volume of proposal submissions as well as contracts with competing deadlines accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team in a high-volume office with multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • More than 3 years of grant preparation and support experience .
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, foundations, etc.
  • Experience composing strategic communications and writing proposals.
  • Successful record of managing a high-volume of proposal submissions with competing deadlines accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Experience working with UT Austin financial systems and familiarity with UT System policies, systems, and procedures
Salary Range
  • $33,000+ depending on qualifications
