Westtown School is seeking energetic and customer-oriented individuals to assist with general food preparation and packaging, some washing of dishes and cookware, general cleaning, and other support of the food service department.

2 immediate openings:

**Part-time kitchen staff member:** will work 3 days a week with occasional weekend hours, as needed. The regular shift will be either 8:00 am -2:00 pm or 9:00 am -3:00 pm.

**Full-time kitchen staff member:** will work 4-5 days a week with some nights and weekends required. This position is eligible for full benefits, including health and dental insurance, retirement, and Paid Time Off.

Westtown School is a Quaker independent, co-educational pre-K to 12, college preparatory day and boarding school located in suburban West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia. Situated on a beautiful 600-acre campus, Westtown offers state-of-the-art facilities where our committed faculty and staff inspire and prepare our students to be stewards and leaders of a better world.

**Position description**

* Provides friendly and helpful service to students and other community members;

* Assists with dining room setup, meal service, and kitchen closing duties;

* Assists with preparation of daily menu items according to the Assistant Kitchen Managers specifications;

* Displays and replenishes food items;

* Follows wrap, label, and date procedures for all food products;

* Maintains a clean and orderly work area and completes daily and weekly cleaning as assigned by Assistant Kitchen Manager;

* Ensures that proper food handling practices are followed;

* Notifies managers of all maintenance and safety issues;

* Maintains knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assigned duties;

* Reports all accidents to the Kitchen Manager immediately;

* Participates in departmental meetings and all necessary training.

**Qualifications**

* High School diploma required

* Some prior food service experience is preferred

* Experience in a customer service position is highly desirable

* A team-oriented spirit and the desire to work in a team environment

* Able to lift, carry or otherwise move up to 25 lbs regularly using proper moving and lifting procedures

* Able to stand, walk, sit, and climb

* Able to push and pull heavy loads

* Able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions required
