About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef Manager to join our team at Oak View Group. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our cafe, ensuring exceptional food quality, and providing outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and Develop Staff: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of 5-10 full-time and part-time cafe employees, including initiating employment actions such as hiring, firing, and disciplining.
  • Catering Planning and Execution: Plan, book, and execute catering events within the office building, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Event Staff Management: Ensure event staff are aware of workplace expectations, provide ongoing assistance, training, and mentoring, and promote a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative workplace environment.
  • Food Cost Control: Implement effective control measures to achieve budgeted food percentages, including portion controls, kitchen timings, food inventory rotation, and purchasing procedures.
  • Labor Cost Control: Control labor costs through effective scheduling, cross-training, and development of employees, and monitor breaks and break documentation for kitchen staff.
  • Menu Development and Quality Control: Develop menus that meet OVG standards of quality and consistency, and monitor production of food preparation to ensure recipe specifications, portion controls, and kitchen timings are met.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Coordinate the storage, maintenance, and repair of all kitchen equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Staff Training and Development: Arrange and manage kitchen staff skills training and development, including departmental orientation of new employees, and provide leadership and support to the entire kitchen staff.
  • Employee Relations and Compliance: Maintain a positive and compliant employee relations climate, ensuring compliance with health, sanitation, safety, and employment regulations.
  • Administrative Tasks: Ensure proper kitchen record keeping and administrative requirements, including food inventories and invoicing of food products, and organize employee work schedules.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or events venue, with a demonstrated track record of meeting projected costs.
  • Professional Appearance and Presentation: Professional appearance and presentation required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic computer proficiency, including email, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Schedule+, as well as working knowledge of Point of Sale and timekeeping systems.
  • Cash Handling and Math Skills: Cash handling abilities and basic math skills, including significant number manipulation.
  • Variable Work Schedule: Ability to work a variable work schedule, including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to positively interact with diverse personalities, including co-workers, subordinates, guests, and purveyors.
