Position Summary:

Responsible for the organizations risk management prevention program.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions
Develops and coordinatesthe risk management plan.
Interfaces with federal and state agencies.
Administersthe risk management program on a day-to-day basis.
Analyzesrisk management data.
Coordinates and reviewsrisk education programs.
Complies with risk management related standards by Florida Risk Statutes, Joint Commission and other accrediting and regulatory agencies with the objective of maintaining patient safety.
Enhances quality care.
Minimizeslossto protect the assets of the organization.
Demonstrates knowledge of the Patient Safety Evaluation System and PSWP.
Responsible for reviewing and formulating policies and procedures for the organization and making recommendations for final approval by senior management.
Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Participates in the hiring and evaluation of potential team members.
Monitors compliance of certifications, licenses, and required education for team members as directed.
Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions
Hasfull responsibility for operations ofthe risk prevention program.
Directsloss control and loss prevention activities and reports resultsto the Director.
Overseesthe statistical trending of losses and analyzes patterns.
Responsible for identifying and communicating regulatory requirementsto the Risk Managers.
Leads development of organization-wide approach on disclosure of medical errors and obtains physician support.
Analyzesthe risk of loss versus cost of reducing loss.
Demonstrate all competencies required by Florida Statute.
Supervises accumulation of risk management cost data for budgeting and historical purposes; prepares budget for departmental operations.
Works with medicalstaffservicesto develop and maintain risk management profiles on physicians and integratesthat information into the credentialing processin compliance with state and federal agencies, JCAHO an/or other accrediting bodies.
Evaluates correspondence from attorneys, patients, and other outside sources, and formulates responses as necessary.
Answers medical and legal inquiries for physicians, nurses, and administrators regarding emergent patient care issues and loss control.
Reports patient care-related incidents to AHCA if required by law; directs investigation and development of corrective action plans; submits reports to state and federal agencies.
Supervises and managesthe Risk Managers.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Training
Bachelors degree in healthcare or closely related field required, masters preferred.

Licensure/Certification
Active Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Manager strongly preferred; Certified Professional Patient Safety preferred.

Experience
Five years of clinical or medical legal experience to include three (3+) years of Risk Management experience and leadership experience preferred. Advanced PC skillsrequired.
