About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Management Specialist to join our team at Fairwinds Credit Union. As a key member of our Risk Management department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic risk assessments, maintaining and monitoring risks and controls, and serving on the Risk Oversight Committee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Strategic Enterprise Risk Assessments: Collaborate with the SVP Risk Management to develop an annual strategic enterprise risk assessment using quantitative and probabilistic techniques to determine and communicate the most significant enterprise risks.
  • Update and Maintain Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Risks and Controls: Update, maintain, and monitor the ERM risks, controls, and reporting within the ERM software, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Serve on the Risk Oversight Committee (ROC): Participate in the ROC, a management-level committee that oversees the credit union's ERM process, developing and sharing risk control strategies, standards, and procedures to instill a culture of risk awareness.
  • Lead Business Continuity Planning: Serve as a member of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) Leadership Team, leading and overseeing the design and implementation of the business continuity plan and program across all business line functions.
  • Manage Vendor Relationships: Serve as the Vendor Management Coordinator, ensuring timely responses to critical due diligence, evaluating and documenting adequacy of insurance coverage, and establishing standards for insurance coverage.
  • Manage User Access Authorities: Determine core system access required to perform job functions for each credit union position, establishing and overseeing compliance with approved authority levels.
  • Manage Loan Quality Control: Analyze QC results to recommend adjustments in underwriting practices and procedures, and notify lending management of secondary market compliance issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Experience: 4-6 years of experience in financial services, with credit union experience preferred.
  • Certification: Existing certification or completion of certification in Risk Management.
  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of all risk streams.
