Job Description

We are currently seeking a Civil/Structural Design Engineer to join our team in our Midlothian, VA office. This role is centered on design engineering within a consulting firm environment, working primarily on small to mid-sized projects for heavy industrial clients. The position will commence with intensive design work and gradually advance into engineering and project management responsibilities. The focus will be on retrofit projects within existing industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

+ Perform civil and/or structural design

+ Develop estimates, schedules, material lists, design concepts, and design drawings

+ Maintain project files and documentation using document control databases

+ Perform field work and technical research

+ Ensure accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services

+ Track and comply with scopes, schedules, and budgets

+ Perform temporary field support activities for engineering support during construction

+ Assist with cost and material estimates and preliminary design studies

+ Check the accuracy and quality of drawings

Top Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related-discipline

+ Proficiency in any of the following software: AutoCAD, Revit, 3D CAD, Advance Steel, RISA 3D

+ Experience and/or knowledge of civil and structural design and material specifications (ideally industrial structural background )

Work Environment

+ The team includes 1 Department Manager (PE), 1 Experienced Engineer (PE), 2 Engineers (both PEs), and 1 Experienced Structural Designer.

+ This is the small team, yet collaborate closely with the mechanical, process, and electrical teams.
