Job Title: Patient Services Representative Job Specialty: Non-Clinical - Medical Group Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week Experience: Preferred - One year of customer service experience and one year in a related/medical field License: N/A Certifications: N/A Must-Have: - High school diploma or equivalent- Excellent customer service skills in person and via telephone- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail- Ability to maintain confidential information- Ability to multitask- Contributes to a positive work environment- Dependability in reporting for work as scheduled and on-time Job Description: - Greet patients, schedule appointments, and obtain complete and accurate patient demographic, insurance, and financial information.- Answer phones, take messages, return calls and provide needed information, documenting all phone calls accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).- Schedule patient appointments for visits, procedures, diagnostic tests, referrals, and consultations.- Register patients, confirming, entering, and/or updating all required demographic data.- Obtain copies of insurance cards, forms of ID, and signatures on all required forms.- Verify insurance to determine coordination of benefits and obtain authorization and/or referrals as required.- Screen for non-covered services and waiver of liability through automated screening at the time of service.- Inform self-pay patients of liability due and prepayment requirements.- Prepare estimates of procedures, calculating advance payment requirements on previous or bad debt and current balances.- Refer potentially eligible patients to financial counseling and/or contract eligibility vendors.- Collect patient payments and provide accurate receipts, posting payments in the system.- Maintain department and/or individual work queues and reports as required.- Prepare medical records for patient appointments by compiling information from various sources.- Accurately scan medical records as required.- Promote mission, vision, and values, and abide by service behavior standards.- Perform other duties as assigned.
