GENERAL PURPOSE SUMMARYFinancial Planning & Business Analyst I - Provides analytical support for financial and business-related projects and scheduled reporting, using past trends, current performance, and forecasting; contributes to the development and improvement of strategies and operational initiatives; analyzes financial and budget data on key areas impacting bank operations; and prepares complex financial reports for bank's internal customers adhering to critical deadlines.

Financial Planning & Business Analyst II - Uses expert knowledge and experience within bank business model to examine, analyze and evaluate qualitative and quantitative financial data on key areas impacting bank operations in support of the bank meeting current goals and establishing future plans and goals; administers Financial Plan and plan-to-actual reporting at a summary and detail level for multiple audiences; prepares the complex financial reports for bank's internal customers adhering to critical deadlines by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:

1. Analyzes financial data and prepares accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and presentations for internal management and executive teams. Prepares and distributes reports & analysis on financial plan to actual performance for cost centers within the bank.

2. Under general direction, prepares financial forecasts of bank earnings by assisting business units in developing and monitoring rolling budgets and forecasts; identifies and analyzes critical business performance results/trends using statistical methods, modeling and analytical methodologies, including analysis of income/expense, profitability, liquidity, capital, leverage, asset/liability management; and assists in business performance improvement recommendations.

3. Provides support for annual financial planning process and software administration within planning software and other programs, including preparation and analysis of financial forecasts of bank earnings to assist business units in developing and monitoring rolling financial plans and forecasts. Provides financial planning training to business units and acts as a resource for continuous utilization of planning tools.

4. Supports decision making by preparing dashboards, presentations, infographics, models & analytical scenario reports on an ad hoc project and recurring basis using data mined from internal sources, peer/competitor call reports, industry sources and publications for CEO, CFO, Executive and Management teams on business units.

5. Provides guidance and training to other Financial Division staff members, reviewing various internally prepared reports for accuracy and variances.

6. Prepares, coordinates, and maintains financial planning projects, objectives, processes and procedures as assigned, including capital planning analysis.

7. Supports vendor management through periodic financial review processes.

8. Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
FP&BA I - Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance and four years related and progressively responsible banking, financial industry, or accounting experience; or six years related and progressively responsible banking, financial industry, or accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance and five years related and progressively responsible banking, financial industry or accounting experience; or seven years related and progressively responsible banking, financial industry, or accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), banking regulations, structure, and accounting systems; public accounting and audit experience; FMVA Certification.

FP&BA II - Minimum: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance and six years progressively responsible and related banking, financial industry, or accounting experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Supervisory experience.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance and eight years progressively responsible and related banking, financial industry, or accounting experience. Advanced degree and CPA candidate. FMVA certification. Knowledge of banking regulations, structure, and accounting systems. Public accounting and audit experience.

SKILLS and ABILITIESAbility to keyboard 40 wpm and operate a 10-key calculator by sight required. Windows based word processing and spreadsheet software experience required. Must have strong analytical skills and be able to work in an organized and efficient manner and on multiple projects with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow through.

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract variables.
