Job Title: Public Health Preparedness Coordinator

Job Overview: The Public Health Preparedness Coordinator will be a key liaison between the health departments within the assigned district and the Regional Supervisor. The Coordinator will support emergency preparedness and response efforts by participating in meetings, managing planning and training activities, and ensuring compliance with grant deliverables. The role involves effective communication with local partners, tracking progress, and providing guidance on preparedness activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Communication and Coordination:
    • Regularly communicate with the Regional Supervisor to update on health department needs, challenges, and achievements, and to receive instructions and guidance.
    • Participate in conference calls and staff meetings organized by the Division of Emergency Preparedness and Regional Supervisors.
    • Attend District Coalition meetings, Health Care Coalition (HCC) Coordinator meetings, and other relevant health department meetings as assigned.
  • Planning and Support:
    • Identify and report any support needs related to planning, training, or exercises to the Regional Supervisor.
    • Provide guidance on IDOH preparedness efforts or direct inquiries to appropriate resources as needed.
    • Assist in tracking progress on grant deliverables, data collection, and inventory management as directed.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Complete and submit required reporting forms and documents as identified by the Regional Supervisor or Director.
    • Assist in coordinating Medical Countermeasure (MCM) Operational Readiness Reviews (ORRs) in CRI jurisdictions as needed.
    • Submit summary reports of coalition or district meetings, and individual meetings using the bi-weekly reporting template.
Expectations:
  • Knowledge and Communication:
    • Demonstrate a strong understanding of IDOH Division of Emergency Preparedness policies, procedures, preparedness and response plans, and technical operations, and effectively communicate these to local partners.
    • Report meeting outcomes by submitting summaries to the Regional Supervisor within 2 business days.
    • Notify the IDOH Regional Supervisor and Contractor Project Supervisor if additional guidance or training is required.
  • Training and Support:
    • Ensure local partners are knowledgeable about IDOH-Division of Emergency Preparedness and other state emergency management strategies. Address gaps in understanding and request assistance as needed.
    • Maintain an electronic file of guidance documents, templates, and boilerplates distributed by the IDOH Central Office. Distribute and explain these documents to local partners as directed.
  • Representation and Conduct:
    • Represent the Indiana Department of Health when interacting with local partners, ensuring professional conduct and adherence to expectations.
    • Communicate any uncertainties about duties or need for additional guidance to the IDOH Regional Supervisor and Contractor Project Supervisor.
  • Up-to-Date Knowledge:
    • Stay informed about guidance and programs from the CDC, ASPR, ISDH, and other relevant sources.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience:
    • Relevant experience in public health preparedness, emergency management, or related fields.
    • Strong understanding of public health policies, emergency response plans, and technical concepts.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to effectively manage and track multiple projects and activities.
    • Proficiency in using electronic documentation and reporting tools.
Work Environment:
  • The role involves regular interaction with various stakeholders and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and communication.


Compensation: $20.00 - $26.45 per hour
