As a Patient Access Representative I at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient scheduling and registration processes. Your exceptional communication skills and attention to detail will enable you to effectively gather and enter patient demographic, insurance, and clinical information, ensuring accurate and efficient scheduling of procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and enter patient information into relevant databases, utilizing your problem-solving skills to resolve any issues related to procedure scheduling.
- Schedule patient procedures in a manner that optimizes patient time and clinical resources, while coordinating and communicating schedules with relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with insurance pre-certification and authorization processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide patient counseling and education on pre-service requirements and instructions, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Perform various clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent, or 10 years of relevant work experience.
- No prior experience required, but a strong desire to learn and grow in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to communicate with patients and colleagues.
- Frequent keyboard use and data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
