Job Title: HR Coordinator & Accountant

Location: Herrman Lumber Company - Springfield, MO

Reports to: Controller

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a HR Coordinator & Accountant. In this dual role, you will be responsible for supporting the financial operations as well as overseeing human resources functions within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both accounting and human resources management, demonstrating versatility, professionalism, and a proactive approach to handling responsibilities across these critical areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Responsibilities:
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment processes, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and handle employee inquiries related to benefits.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with HR regulations.
  • Coordinate employee performance reviews and support employee development initiatives.
  • Handle employee relations matters and resolve conflicts as needed.
  • Assist in the implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures.
  • Conduct HR-related training sessions for employees and managers.
Accounting Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Controller in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Conduct monthly financial analysis and provide insights to management.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Support annual audits and tax filings.
  • Manage sales and use tax accounts in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Perform financial reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
General Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support company objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and HR best practices.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote company culture initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in accounting and/or human resources roles.
  • Proficiency in HR practices and employment laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
