Description

BigIron is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The Accounting Manager role at BigIron is essential to the financial health and success of our organization. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes. This role will provide a blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a proactive approach to financial management, contributing significantly to our strategic goals and long-term growth. This is a remote role with some travel required to our office locations in Nebraska.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with and support Controller on monthly closing and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.
  • Assist in managing internal and external audits, ensuring all audit requirements are met.
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. Review and recommend improvements related to sales tax software
  • Understand and work within the current accounting software systems, ensuring they are maintained and utilized effectively.
  • Manage the implementation and optimization of end-to-end close processes, leveraging automation and data analytics for efficiency gains.
  • Oversee the integration of accounts payable and receivable functions with cutting-edge technology solutions to drive operational excellence.
  • Utilize data-driven insights and predictive analytics to conduct in-depth variance analysis and support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive cross-functional projects to automate processes, enhance system capabilities, and optimize ERP functionality.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of accounting workflows and system configurations to ensure transparency and scalability.
  • Provide training and support to accounting personnel on advanced system usage and best practices to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare journal entries for monthly closing cycle.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred, reflecting advanced expertise and commitment to professional excellence.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including significant managerial responsibilities, demonstrating a strong track record in financial management and leadership.
  • Expertise in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or NetSuite, coupled with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, essential for effective financial analysis, reporting, and data management.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to utilize technology for data-driven decision-making, strategic planning, and process optimization.
  • Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and developing high-performance teams, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to align financial strategies with organizational goals, driving growth and operational efficiency in the dynamic equipment sales auction industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to evolving business needs and a proactive approach to solving complex financial challenges.
