BigIron is seeking an experienced accountant to join our team The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in overseeing the company's financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, and providing valuable insights for decision-making. This position involves managing complex accounting tasks, leading the month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The Senior Accountant will also mentor junior staff and drive continuous improvement in financial processes. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This is a remote role with some travel necessary to our office locations in Nebraska.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare, review, and approve complex journal entries.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial data integrity.
  • Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements and management reports.
  • Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting and budgeting.
  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis and provide actionable insights to senior management.
  • Present financial findings and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Supervise the processing and verification of invoices and payments.
  • Manage and optimize accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collections.
  • Reconcile complex vendor statements and resolve significant discrepancies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Lead internal and external audit processes, liaising with auditors as needed.
  • Stay abreast of evolving accounting regulations and standards, implementing necessary changes.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
  • Facilitate training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving financial processes.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements in accounting operations.
  • Implement best practices in financial management and reporting
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting or supervisory role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in advanced accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance.
