Block Island, United States Regent Services Full time
REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers. With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.

We are backed by the world's best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Anduril, and Boom Supersonic, in addition to strategic investors like Lockheed Martin, Japan Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. We have over $8B in orders from some of the industry's largest operators and are hard at work getting our full-scale, human-carrying prototype on the water next year.

This results-oriented leader will oversee all aspects of accounting, ensuring GAAP compliance, strong internal controls, and transparent, insightful financial and management reporting. Drawing on your experience from both Big 4 Accounting and high-growth industries, you'll be instrumental in leading the audit process, driving increased internal controls, and implementing best practices to mitigate risk and build financial transparency. This position will initially report directly to the Head of Finance.

Due to the importance of this role, the pace of life at REGENT, and the communication requirements among a diverse set of stakeholders on our team, we are looking for a candidate who is ready and excited to support full-time from our Rhode Island HQ, though transition timelines will be accommodated for the right candidate.

If you're as motivated as we are to revolutionize coastal transportation and help REGENT bring a new and fully electric form of transportation to the world, then join our amazing team

Roles & Responsibilities:
    • Financial Management and Reporting: Manage and supervise all day-to-day operations of the accounting department. Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to GAAP. Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., hardware, manufacturing, supply chain) to understand and manage financial implications. Oversee accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and drive the monthly accounting close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial information. Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, reserves, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency conversions as required.
    • Technology and Systems Improvement:Leverage technology to improve financial reporting and data analysis capabilities. Ensure that the finance department utilizes the most efficient and effective financial systems and tools. Select and implement an ERP system.
    • AP Management:Take over the ownership of REGENT's AP system, including invoice and payment processing, vendor communication, audit support, and reporting. As REGENT grows, build out the AP team from the ground up.
    • Cost Control and Efficiency:Implement effective cost control measures and seek opportunities for efficiency improvements in manufacturing processes to maximize profitability. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures aligned with high-growth industry best practices.
    • Compliance and Regulation Adherence:Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards specific to the aerospace industry. Stay updated with changes in laws and regulations that might affect the company's financial policies.
    • Internal Controls and Audit:Oversee the internal control systems to prevent and detect fraud. Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit. Lead and drive the external audit process, ensuring smooth execution and timely completion.
    • Inventory and Asset Management:Oversee inventory control and asset management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in tracking and valuation.
    • Tax Planning and Management:Oversee tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position while ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
    • A passion for what we're building here - including passions for maritime, aviation, sustainability, or travel/transportation
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
    • 7+ years of combined experience: 3+ years in a Big 4 accounting firm, with exposure to audit methodologies and best practices and 4+ years of experience in a high-growth industry, ideally with a hardware and inventory management focus (e.g., automotive, aerospace, technology)
    • Strong understanding of GAAP and industry-specific accounting regulations
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments
    • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, MS Dynamics) and Excel
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in unstructured, fast-paced environments
    • Ability to build financial reports to drive insights into financial performance
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
    • CPA certification
    • Proven experience with ERP implementation and optimization
    • Experience managing financials of a vehicle production company/OEM (e.g. aircraft, boat, or automotive manufacturer)
    • Experience in U.S. Government program management, including performing cost control, analysis, and reporting functions in a U.S. Government, multi-CLIN, DCAA audit-compliant contracting environment
    • Experience selecting ERP systems to comply with U.S. Government program recording and reporting requirements
    • Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions
    • Ability to analyze a high volume of transactions and data; SQL experience
Bonus Points:
    • FAA pilot's license or boating/sailing experience
