Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Mechanical Design: Design mechanical components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor and Vault 2020 or later.
  2. Design Review: Peer review new designs and adaptations of existing designs. Attend cross-functional design reviews and lead when required.
  3. Project Ownership: Own small-scale projects from concept to implementation, obtaining buy-in from senior engineers as needed.
  4. Analysis: Conduct analysis on specific items or in support of particular projects, such as bearing life calculations and timing diagrams.
  5. Value Engineering: Value engineer designs to achieve cost targets while maintaining or improving function under limited supervision.
  6. Documentation: Compile machine packages, including BOMs, drawings, recommended spares lists, etc., in accordance with customer specifications.
  7. BOM Management: Create and maintain Product Line BOMs.
  8. Support and Commissioning: Under limited supervision, support the build and commissioning of Product Line Portfolio by addressing inquiries related to design items, both in-house and in-field.
  9. Purchasing and Production Support: Under limited supervision, support Purchasing and Production Control by addressing inquiries related to mechanical design items. Evaluate non-conforming parts and approve substitutions for the product line.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

Required:
  • Two or more years of proven experience in a comparable role.
  • Proficiency in 3D solid modeling and drafting software such as Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or ProE.
  • Competent use of document control systems, preferably Autodesk Vault.
  • Working knowledge of industry design drafting standards such as ANSI Y14.5 (1994 or later).
  • Experience in the design of Mechanical Machinery.
  • Experienced with designing parts for shop fabrication methods and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of materials and finishes.
  • Strong technical communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Competent using Microsoft Office software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent.
Desired:
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 2020 (or later).
  • Proficient use of Autodesk Vault.
  • Proficient use of industry design drafting standards such as ANSI Y14.5 (1994 or later).
  • Competence in assigning tolerances and working knowledge of stack-up analysis.
  • Experience in designing to OSHA or CE safety standards.
  • Some experience in the use of Quality and Engineering Tools like FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and Statistical Process Control, among others.
  • Ability to conduct Finite Element Analysis on mechanical designs.
  • Four or more years of industrial experience in the design of High-Speed Rotating Machinery or related fields.
