Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Advanced Technologies team in Lynchburg, VA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative mechanical systems for nuclear reactors and other applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform detail component, system, and design engineering activities, including drawings, calculations, and reports.
  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems, with a focus on assembly, testing, and inspection.
  • Implement design control and configuration control concepts.
  • Develop and implement design for manufacturing and system operations.
  • Specify procurement requirements for mechanical components or system operability.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Physics discipline.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in nuclear reactor core components, reactor vessel, and reactor vessel head components.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Code, Section III and VIII.
  • General knowledge of project engineering activities (task plans, schedules, etc.).
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely written and verbal communication.
  • Strong team player with ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and independently.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance.

Pay:

$92,000.00 - $142,000.00 per year, based on local job market factors and individual qualifications.
