In this role, you will report to the VP of HR for Duininck Construction and Materials and serve on the Senior Leadership team for Duininck, Inc. The Director of HR will be responsible for driving the people strategy across the company, including Duininck Culture, People Strategies and Initiatives, Team Structures and Capacity and Capability Planning. To be successful in this role, it is critical for the individual to have strength in strategic thinking to achieve organizational goals, as well as the tactical skills necessary for the implementation of human resources initiatives. The Director of HR collaborates with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Construction and Materials Sector HR team to support the organization’s mission, vision, values, goals, and key metrics by developing and implementing innovative programs that drive development, engagement, and culture. Develop an in-depth understanding of the business both strategically and operationally to establish and implement short-and long-term human resources strategies that align with company culture and values and drive business results. Evaluate human resources policies, programs, and practices. Recommend and implement solutions that significantly improve organizational effectiveness and enhance culture. Lead talent strategy for the business including talent management, performance management, learning and development, succession planning, workforce analysis and planning, and employee engagement activities. Create and implement effective talent acquisition strategies to meet current and future business staffing needs. Oversee the performance management process, which includes designing effective training as well as coaching leaders and employees on goal setting, performance management communication and supporting documentation. Collaborate with the SLT on mergers and acquisition due diligence and integration activities. Lead the compensation planning activity for the business, design and develop competitive compensation strategies. Collaborate with Duininck Construction and Materials leadership team on design and implementation of competitive benefits programs and annual benefits review process regarding design or policy changes. Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and requirements. Identify key performance indicators for the organization’s Human Resource functions and assess the organization’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics. Partner with the SLT in identifying changing organizational needs, change management principles and processes and lead change management initiatives. Develop and implement internal communications plans to support strategic company-wide initiatives. Coordinate with marketing and external communications partners to safeguard the company’s corporate reputation by ensuring outreach plans and community relations programs are aligned with the company mission and culture. Skills necessary for success in this role: Must be a strong team player, able to work effectively with a variety of people, personalities, skills, and organizational levels. Experience leading departments or teams and being an active participant in collaborative decision making. Effective coaching and mentoring for individuals and teams. Demonstrated experience in building programs and processes for future success. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, sometimes with competing priorities. Experience in gathering and presenting information in a clear and concise manner. Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Proficient with technology, including the Microsoft Office suite, social media management tools and cloud-based software programs. Requirements: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. A minimum of ten years of experience in a leadership capacity, with broad comprehensive knowledge of human resources practices. Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked. Ability to effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment and maintain confidentiality. Ability to meet all workplace safety requirements.
