The Opportunity: As the Athletics Coordinator for the Downers Grove Park District, you'll have behind the scenes influence into park district athletics. You will work both independently and with the recreation team to assist with development, implementation, and evaluation of youth & adult athletic leagues. You will have office space at the Recreation Center in Downers Grove; however, you will have the opportunity to help with leagues held at other facilities and parks within the district. As the Athletics Coordinator you will be the go-to person for the day-to-day operations of the evening adult athletic leagues, as well as assisting with youth leagues and athletic special events.

A typical weekly schedule would be:
- Typically, Monday - Thursday 4:30pm-10:30pm with alternating/varying Saturday or Sunday shifts based on league and staffing needs
- Some flexibility required depending on league and special event schedules - may be occasional mid-day or weekend shifts
- Serve as on-field supervisor for indoor & outdoor athletic leagues
- Provide input and suggestions into new league offerings, as well as improvements to current athletic leagues
- Set-up and take-down equipment on playing fields/courts for league games
- Act as liaison with appropriate Parks staff regarding field conditions & scheduling
- Help to coordinate, plan, and evaluate adult & youth athletic leagues
- Maintain inventory of athletic equipment as needed
- Coordinate game schedules, rainouts, and playoff schedules for all athletic leagues
- Serve as liaison to all officials, official assigners, and official associations
- Attend district staff meetings, trainings and special events
- Ensure all follow Park District's safety policies are being followed and implemented
- 18 years of age or older
- Self-motivated
- Can successfully work independently and part of a team to achieve assigned goals
- Previous experience working in a Park District or athletic league environment
- Knowledge of basketball, soccer, softball & volleyball including rules, equipment & playing fields/areas
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers
- Able to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees, participants and the public
- Can stay composed in periods of high activity and in emergencies
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Able to adapt to changes in environment and program structure
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
