Job Summary:

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a highly skilled Field Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive sports medicine services to scholastic athletes within an assigned school district program. The ideal candidate will possess excellent internal and external customer service skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Schedule and Coordinate Athletic Activities: Develop and implement efficient schedules for athletic activities, treatments, and events.
  2. Provide Excellent Customer Service: Display exceptional internal and external customer service skills, ensuring a positive experience for athletes, coaches, and school administrators.
  3. Meet NATA Standards: Adhere to the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) standards for athletic healthcare in a secondary school setting, including certification and continuing education requirements.
  4. Supervise and Manage Outreach Athletic Healthcare: Carry out supervisory tasks as assigned by management, overseeing the management of the outreach athletic healthcare department.
  5. Prepare Daily Athletic Training Responsibilities: Develop and implement daily athletic training responsibilities in accordance with standards of practice for certified athletic trainers.
  6. Track Injuries and Rehabilitation: Provide monthly and seasonal reports on injury tracking, physician referrals, and rehabilitation utilization.
  7. Implement Treatment Plans: Develop and implement treatment plans incorporating therapeutic exercise, modalities, and athletic conditioning as deemed necessary by treating physicians or standing medical orders.
  8. Provide Athletic Healthcare Coverage: Provide athletic healthcare coverage for assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the secondary school's athletic director.
  9. Promptly Begin Work Assignments: Start work assignments promptly after receiving instructions, with the ability to perform independently with minimal supervision.
  10. Determine Athlete Readiness: Assess athletes' physical readiness to participate in sports activities.
  11. Implement Strength and Conditioning Programs: Develop and implement pre-season, in-season, and post-season strength and conditioning programs.
  12. Work in Crisis Situations: Confidently handle crisis or emergency situations, particularly those involving trauma, pathomechanics, psychological issues, and metabolic failure.
  13. Use Athletic Training Equipment Safely: Demonstrate knowledge of safety practices and use athletic training equipment safely and efficiently.
  14. Inform Athletes and Families: Educate athletes and families on important aspects of athletes' conditions, including concussion, wound care, first aid, and follow-up care.
  15. Collaborate with Team Physicians: Work effectively with team physicians in sports coverage settings when necessary.
  16. Exemplify Company Culture: Embody the desired culture and philosophies of Rothman Orthopaedics.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required (graduate of an approved, accredited athletic training education program as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine); master's degree preferred.
  • Certifications: Actively certified by the Pennsylvania Board of Medical Examiners; Actively certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), current CPR Certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years working under the supervision of NATA-approved trainers or equivalent years' experience in a professional ATC position.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office and other relevant computer applications.
