Job Description
The Contract Administration Associate will work with the manager of Contracts Administration and Director of Legal & Regulatory Compliance, Summit's sales staff, and outside counsel to manage Summit's contracts with customers, product vendors, and expense vendors.
- Perform initial review of Summit purchase, sale, and vendor contracts with the supervision of the Manager of Contracts Administration and Director of Legal & Regulatory Compliance
- Create and maintain a database to maintain Summit's executed contracts
- Draft contract abstracts for common use by Summit sales, risk management, and procurement staff
- Coordinate with legal staff, other Summit staff, and/or outside parties to process final approved contracts for execution.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Able to handle a high volume of very detailed work, including tasks provided below and expanding skills through self or group training to acquire ability to use relevant tools and functions (e.g. word track changes, document compare and like advanced functions) and conduct review of contract terms and conditions.
- Highly organized and focused on work flow.
- Willing and able to understand and analyze significant legal and business concepts included in contract documents.
- Capable of working with deadline pressures.
- Able to create and manage processes to review, comment, communicate, and access contractual terms.
- Able to create contract abstracts from terms and conditions.
- Exercise initiative to work productively with general supervision and direction.
- Able to work effectively with others, including executives, service center leadership, Associate Services, Procurement, and Finance departments.
- Bachelor's degree or commiserate experience with administrative and organizational ability required. High degree of organizational skills, computer skills, and written communication skills required.
- Experience with Summit systems, work flow, and sales processes is preferred.
- Experience creating, configuring, accessing, and managing databases is beneficial.
- Prior experience in legal field or with legal concepts, such as experience as a contract specialist, legal assistant, or paralegal, is beneficial.
- Knowledge of commercial insurance coverages is beneficial.
- Prior wholesale or distribution sales or commercial experience is beneficial.
- Good verbal communication skills beneficial.
