Cybersecurity System Analyst

position. Under general direction, the Cybersecurity System Analyst will execute vulnerability, threat and incident management processes to help ensure cybersecurity risks and threats are proactively identified and addressed to maintain the protection of company information and information systems. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of IT industry trends and emerging technologies and an ability to relate them to the company and its objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Participates in the creation of the Cybersecurity strategy, program objectives and project plans. Assists in the design and implementation of improved enterprise Cybersecurity processes and services, across multiple Cybersecurity domains/functions as necessary to ensure the protection of county information and IT assets. Administers and maintains enterprise Cybersecurity technology platforms and services related to the Elections Administrative Department as well as the Harris County enclave. Fulfills customer requests and performs daily security operations, such as routine incident monitoring, analysis and response activities. Performs analysis of Cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities and exposures and provides effective recommendations, solutions and remediation plans. Develops procedures, job aids, metrics/measures, reports, and presentations as necessary to support the overall delivery of Cybersecurity objectives. Participates on Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CIRT) investigation and response activities as required. Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across departments/teams and effectively communicate solution designs to stakeholders and leadership. Ability to confront challenges in a constructive fashion and influence others through consensus building techniques. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to drive adherence to cybersecurity processes and tools and to keep focus on multiple tracks of work and open issues in parallel. Strong technical writing, research, analysis and analytical/problem solving skills. A passion for Cybersecurity, self-starter mentality, flexibility and willingness to take on new challenges and ability to thrive in a team environment. Education

Bachelors degree or currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar area of study (Required)

Certifications

CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network + Certification or other relevant industry certifications

Experience

Two (2) years of progressive work experience in Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field Direct experience operating enterprise security solutions, threat management, endpoint detection and response tools and technologies Experience validating, analyzing and prioritizing reported vulnerability and security risks related to solution implementation and design A basic understanding of Cybersecurity concepts across most domains, applicable security models (e.g. NIST and CIS Critical Security Controls) and regulations (e.g. CJIS, PCI, HIPAA, Privacy) Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands

Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs. and/or move boxes and equipment as needed. Subject to kneeling, crouching, handling, climbing, walking, sitting, twisting and reaching are needed to perform the essential functions.
