The Cybersecurity and Systems Administrator will be responsible for implementing and maintaining tools, systems, and software that support cybersecurity and compliance efforts within APQC. This role will also be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of all network equipment, server hardware, and cloud infrastructure ensuring uptime targets are maintained for critical and productions systems. The right candidate can work collaboratively with technical staff, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure all projects and initiatives follow security and privacy best practices.  It is essential that the candidate possess strong analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills as they relate to cybersecurity, servers, and networks.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Deploying and maintaining commercially available security tools and software such as firewalls, antivirus, data loss prevention, email security, and intrusion detection systems to defend against cyber threats.
  • Ensuring all network, server, and security infrastructure are updated, patched, and configured to meet current security standards and best practices. Continuously monitoring SOC/SEIM alerts for anomalies and responding to issues and threats in appropriate fashion based on severity. Escalating critical issues to leadership
  • Developing and maintaining documentation, policies, and procedures related to the duties and responsibilities of the role.

  • Working closely with the Executive Director, Information Technology and other key leaders to develop best-fit security and compliance practices.
  • Effectively managing relationships with key IT vendors and partners.
  • Regularly identifying and assessing cyber risks to the organizations. Developing and executing mitigation strategies with input from key stakeholders.
  • Frequently seeks opportunities for professional development to build technical skillset. Continuously keep pace with the latest security trends and threats.
 Qualifications & Skills:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science or a related field
  • 5-10 years’ experience managing IT security systems/tools and responding to cybersecurity incidents
  • Certifications are preferred (CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker, CISM, etc.)
  • Considerable experience administering and Office365 and Azure environment
  • Background in networking and Windows server administration
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Significant analytical and troubleshooting skills pertaining to resolving complex technical issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A comprehensive understanding of widely accepted cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001/2, SOC2, ext.) and privacy regulations (GRPCA, CCPA, etc.)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical staff

The position is full-time, 0-10% travel, and located in Houston, Texas.
