The Community Development Specialist is an emerging leader with a commitment to community development. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of a wide range of community development initiatives, and provides the vision, direction, and oversight of Augusta National Golf Club (ANGC) Community Impact interests. The ideal candidate will be a creative, flexible, self-directed individual who can work collaboratively with ANGC staff, community stakeholders, funders, and partners, state and local government, academic institutions, local businesses, other non-profits, and residents. The Community Impact Specialist must be willing to learn about community challenges, dynamics, as well as priorities, and can manage and direct resources to align with collective priorities and address community opportunities and concerns.

The Community Development Specialist is required to have excellent working knowledge of affordable housing practices and community development, program management, and the ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner with colleagues and community stakeholders. This position reports to the Manager of Community Impact.

Essential Functions of the Job
  • Identify key community concerns and priorities and co-develop strategies and resources to address them
  • Lead implementation of existing ANGC Community Impact plans and update plans and proposals as conditions change and opportunities align
  • Develop and implement community development project focused on access to mixed-income housing and other
  • Participate in and lead when appropriate in community collaboratives and meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, funders and partners, including state and local government, academic institutions, local businesses, other non-profits, and residents.
  • Define and coordinate community engagement and outreach strategy for varied services.
  • Seek grants and funding collaborators that can leverage ANGC community investment and strategies
  • Help develop annual department plans including goals, objectives, timelines, resources, and budget
  • Provide regular project updates to the Senior Director of Community Impact, Chief Property and Planning Officer, and the ANGC's leadership team.
Physical Demands
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
  • Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

  • Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an important part of the job
Qualifications:

Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:
  • A commitment to community-led development and the centering of underrepresented and disadvantaged perspectives and experiences
  • Flexibility and adaptability to a changing, fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of writing, managing, and implementing public and private grants
  • Demonstrated record of community-informed organizing or engagement experience
  • Commitment to equitable and sustainable community development
  • Proven history of working with varied and conflicting stakeholders and audiences
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including in public settings
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in utilizing virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams, etc.)
Relative Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree (Business Management, Planning, Urban Development, Sustainability, Social Change, Housing Policy, community development, etc.) in relevant field at least five years of successful experience or graduate degree and/or relevant subject matter expertise and at least three years of successful experience
  • Familiarity with stakeholders and funders in Augusta, GA
  • Experience managing and supporting multiple projects and programs across a wide range of focus areas
Required License(s):
  • Possess a valid driver's license and/or successfully completes the Club's internal motor vehicle training program


Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
