Job Description

Job Title: Estimator (Heavy Civil Contractor)

Job Description:

Seeking an Estimator to help perform take - offs and estimates for the following various scopes of work within the heavy civil construction industry, particularly in concrete, excavation, underground utilities, and earthwork.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize HCSS software proficiently to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive quantity take-offs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for bidding purposes.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids and negotiate pricing to ensure competitiveness and project profitability.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages in accordance with company standards and client requirements.
  • Conduct thorough risk analysis and identify potential cost-saving opportunities during the estimating process.
  • Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, material costs, and industry trends relevant to heavy civil construction.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience 2 years in estimating within the heavy civil construction industry.
  • Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid software is required.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes related to concrete (including flatwork, piers, foundations, footers, culverts), excavation, underground utilities, and earthwork.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project requirements and technical documents.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to producing accurate and thorough estimates.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
