The Purpose:

We are growing our HR team and looking for a Benefits Administrator to join our team in Chicago As our Benefits Administrator, you will provide exceptional support to employees and managers as needed in areas such as company benefits, leave of absence administration, and other general HR support. You will administer day-to-day processes supporting various group benefit programs (Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance, FSA, HSA, and Retirement Plans). Administer leave requests requiring specialized attention, particularly those under PFML, FMLA, and company short- and long-term disability plans. This is a great opportunity to be a key player and join our growing HR team.

The Job:

  • Support administration of employee benefits programs, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Short-and-Long Term Disability, FSA, HSA, 401(k), Wellness programs, and Life Insurance.
  • Assist employees with questions about benefits enrollment and changes, disability claims, death claims, rollovers, QDROs, and loans.
  • Assist with compliance and audit testing and support.
  • Process COBRA enrollments/changes.
  • Performs audits to ensure all benefit enrollments and dependent data are correct with our Benefit Carriers.
  • Assist with processing annual mandatory benefit reporting.
  • Maintain accurate data in HRIS, coordinate benefit setup, deduction, and compliance reporting, generate system reports, and implement necessary system changes.
  • Ensure compliance with FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and other state and federal regulations.
  • Work with external benefit vendors to ensure employee problems are resolved.
  • Provide employee benefits orientation.
  • Edit benefit communications regarding programs, design changes, and annual enrollment and ensure legally required communications are up-to-date and distributed appropriately.
  • Reconcile invoices and provide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Maintain internal process documents, making updates and recommendations for change, where appropriate.
  • Support HR Team by assisting with HR processes, functions, and projects as requested.
The Person:
  • 3+ years of professional work experience in benefits and human resources; a bachelor's degree in the related field is preferred.
  • Business or related discipline or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • A thorough understanding of employee benefit plans and applicable laws and regulations is required.
  • Foundational knowledge of HR, including compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle a broad range of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to maintain focus on data accuracy and detail orientation while committed to achieving excellence.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate written and orally.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities in a changing environment.
  • High sense of urgency, customer-service driven, and team player mentality.
  • Experience with UKG software is preferred.
