The Risk and Finance Technical Lead is expected to lead a technology team to deliver end-to-end solutions for moderate to complex projects in a fast-paced environment. The Risk and Finance Technical Lead must demonstrate strong technical thought leadership that is deep in Risk and Finance technology, yet broad across technology.

The Risk and Finance Technical Lead is expected to start strong in the Risk and Finance space and expand, not just in Risk and Finance, but also in related areas, such as data management. We're looking for an innovative and inquisitive individual with a passion for continuous learning, quality, and drive to follow-through.

The Risk and Finance domain includes actuarial modelling, forecasting, financial reporting, operational accounting, disbursements and receivables, treasury, and reinsurance. A strong focus on integrity and corporate record keeping pervade the domain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strong leadership & organizational skills, ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Hands-on design and development in Risk and Finance platforms while exhibiting leadership in process re-engineering and implementation of technology
  • Build and maintain detailed working knowledge of key business applications
  • Provide thought leadership on solution capabilities and ensure IT resources are effectively utilized
  • Collaborate with both architecture and the development community to define and maintain standards, processes, and emerging technical roadmaps
  • Develop and implement application design and configuration
  • In partnership with the application test practice lead, develop test processes and release management approaches that advance Risk and Finance in addition to Applications
  • Understand, design, and build complex algorithms
  • Provide cost analysis for new and existing solutions to enable most efficient capabilities to both business and IT
  • Judge the feasibility and tradeoff of different technologies and make choices that fit the constraints of customers and projects
  • Collaborate with scrum teams, hands-on development, and support to deliver solutions and meet service levels
  • Ensure IT resources are effectively utilized in IT Application Service delivery
  • Identify application transformation and rationalization opportunities as we transform to a simpler, more modern system platform
  • Establish and sustain strong partnership with business stakeholders & product owners
  • Work with business stakeholders and Product owners to ensure solutions satisfy business requirements and are of the highest quality
  • Possess strong degree of emotional and social intelligence with ability to build relationships across the enterprise
  • Communicate effectively, and with an appropriate level of detail, to all levels in the organization.
  • Work with limited direction, usually within a complex environment, to drive delivery of solutions and meet service levels.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferred in Computer Science or an analytical discipline, or relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on application development or data management experience with at least 3 years in a technical team leadership role.
  • 5+ years of experience with actuarial and/or financial systems

  • Ability to manage IT Suppliers in a cost- effective manner.
  • Ability to assess IT Supplier Talent & application resource spend.
  • Ability to manage change and cope with complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Agile solution delivery skills highly desired.
