The Technical Operations Manager is responsible for training all production employees of all phases of the converted paper operations to improve safety, production, quality, and maintenance of equipment. The Technical Operations Manager will also assist in overseeing and organizing the daily operations of the manufacturing floor, monitoring employees, production and efficiency, to ensure manufacturing is operating smoothly, quickly, efficiently and safely. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES Lead the organization in converted paper manufacturing: Production, Safety, Quality, and plant efficiencies. Develop plant training plans and implement systems to capture, analyze, and share the operations key process indicators with team members and management personnel. Identify and develop an operating plan for converted paper manufacturing that is consistent with and supports the business plan. Determine what resources are required to successfully execute the plan in the converted paper manufacturing areas of the business Ensure standards for production, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production. Assist in setting the standards, communicate, and achieve clear and measurable expectations of performance for the converted paper operation. Provide direction, guidance, and mentoring to ensure that day-to-day goals are met. Develop relationships and interacts with management, customers and sales team. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 5 to 7 years of manufacturing experience Solid in-depth knowledge of converted paper manufacturing applications Proven track record in cost savings and facility improvements Demonstrated skills working w/ others at a management level in a manufacturing environment Excellent oral communication skills, including ability to train, motivate and mentor employees Must be a hands-on style of manager who is capable of dealing with and analyzing significant details of the operation Good record keeping and reporting skills Demonstrated computer skills and applicable software programs Available to work other duties as assigned EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school graduate and five or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as length measurements, paper basis weight, caliper, efficiencies, etc. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee should be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
