Full job description The Director of Quality Assurance will lead the Quality Assurance (QA) department, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. This role is crucial for maintaining the company’s reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction. The Director of QA will develop, implement, and oversee quality assurance strategies and processes, and work closely with Merchandising, Compliance, Sourcing, Distribution, and other departments to ensure consistent product quality. This is an on-site position, with preferred location being our Distribution Center in Taftville, CT. We are also open to the right person being located in our DC in Aberdeen, MD instead. This position will require occasional domestic and international travel to supplier sites, manufacturing facilities, trade shows and Bob’s DC’s. Job Responsibilities Quality Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives. Set quality standards for Bob’s Discount Furniture and ensure all products meet these standards consistently. Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and manage the QA team, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Provide training and development opportunities for QA staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the production process and implement corrective actions to enhance product quality. Develop and refine quality assurance policies, procedures, and guidelines. Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with the Sourcing and Merchandising team to evaluate and select suppliers based on their quality standards. Conduct regular audits and inspections of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements. Product Inspection: Oversee the inspection of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications. Implement and manage a robust system for tracking and resolving quality issues. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Maintain accurate documentation of quality assurance activities, including test results, inspection reports, and corrective actions plans. Customer Feedback and Issue Resolution: Monitor customer feedback and complaints, and work with relevant departments to address and resolve quality issues. Implement strategies to prevent recurrence of quality problems. Required Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience in the furniture retail industry. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong understanding of furniture manufacturing processes and quality control methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree (MBA, MS). Proficiency in quality management systems and tools with specific furniture-related experience. Additional Certifications: Certified Quality Manager (CQM). Certified Quality Engineer (CQE). Lean Six Sigma Certification. Physical Requirements Office work: Sitting & standing. Warehouse: Product inspections and reviews. Field visits: Walking, product inspections and reviews. Expected Base Pay Not Including Potential Commissions, Incentive, Bonus, etc. Opportunities: 130-225k + bonus target + options.
