Otak is hiring a Project Accountant for our Portland office. This position will work closely with our Project Managers and is essential in providing guidance and support to ensure each project has successful financial performance, and meets company standards and contractual obligations are followed. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and can quickly ascertain complex issues and effectively solve problems while managing multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines. What You’ll Do Coordinate all aspects of invoice generation including invoice preparation, related documentation, invoice reporting, collections assistance, and resolution of all billing issues. Prepare invoices and any applicable backups according to established quality, productivity standards, and contract guidelines for approval by Project Managers. Monitor labor and expense charges, and the reporting of job budgets and costs. Ensure internal project accounting financial data is completed accurately, timely, efficiently, and in accordance with GAAP and company policy. Utilize judgment and analytical skills to resolve any problems, issues, and challenges. Escalate any unresolved issues to the Project Accounting Manager and/or Project Managers as necessary. Work with, train, and mentor various Project Managers and other team members to provide Project Accounting guidance and ensure compliance with all company policies and guidelines within the organization. What You Bring Must have at least five years (4) or more of relevant professional experience in Project Accounting, Cost Accounting or similar discipline. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is strongly preferred. Ability to demonstrate a customer service focus, showing commitment and follow-through with a positive, can-do attitude. Intermediate to advanced skills using MS Office, specifically in Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficiency with accounting software and experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or other ERP software is strongly preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and meet deadlines. Knowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environment is highly desired.
