DARe Research Scientist, Age-related Diseases Job ID: REQ-10017927 Aug 05, 2024 Location: Cambridge, MA, USA Summary The Diseases of Aging and Regenerative Medicine (DARe) in Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated BS/MS level scientist to join our early stage exploratory and drug discovery department. Our group is developing new therapies for age-related diseases, exploring disease biology understanding and potential treatments including target identification, validation and subsequent development of therapeutic interventions. In this role, you will work on exploratory and drug discovery projects in age-related diseases, developing complex in vitro assay and aging systems, particularly iPSC-derived cardiac, muscular, and neuromuscular 2D and 3D models, and phenotypical assay systems with a broad range of readouts. Additionally, you will explore novel biomarkers and readouts in disease models using emerging technologies. You will be part of an interdisciplinary, highly collaborative group. About the Role Internal Job Title: Research Scientist I/II Responsibilities: Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques to support exploratory and drug discovery projects in DARe. Apply a diversity of in vitro techniques to identify and validate assays and characterize cellular models of disease. Apply a diversity of ex vivo techniques to assess preclinical and human samples for pharmacodynamic biomarkers and innovative readouts. Utilize data analysis and visualization techniques to generate, analyze, and document study results, as well as interpret and present data to multidisciplinary groups. Stay current on emergent technologies through literature review and scientific meetings. What You'll Bring to the Role: MS, BS, or equivalent degrees in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field with 2+ years of demonstrated ability, preferably in industry. Expertise in in vitro methods including but not limited to molecular and cellular biology. Experience with iPSC-derived models is desirable. Expertise in ex vivo/in vivo methods including biomarker and tissue analysis would be helpful. Knowledge and hands-on experience in developing and implementing assays (e.g. cell culture, qPCR, IHC/IF, ELISA, gene and protein analysis, imaging). Data proficiency, including but not limited to data cleaning, wrangling, visualization, and conducting basic statistical analysis using Excel, R, Python, or Prism. Ability to document, organize, communicate, and present sophisticated data sets to multidisciplinary groups. Ability to multi-task, work collaboratively as well as independently, be scientifically curious, and self-motivated. Excellent oral and communication skills, analytical skills, and interpersonal skills.
