Position Description

The Cook Supervisor is responsible for coordinating kitchen staff and ensuring orders are prepared on time and according to patient specifications. Being skilled in the culinary department and knowledgeable about food safety regulations. Preparing and/or directing the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. The cook supervisor is responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leading a team of cooks, washers, and helpers to achieve an organized kitchen.
  • Overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared safely and efficiently.
  • Managing a team of cooks, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Implementing food hygiene standards, ordering ingredients, measuring portions, planning menus, and arranging catering for special events
  • Prepares and/or directs preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems as assigned by the Food Service Director.
  • Determines & ensures availability of supplies & food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation. Correctly prepares all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders.
  • Maintain HACCP logs and daily production records
  • Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times, cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation, observes proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as cook supervisor or similar role in a restaurant
  • Working knowledge of professional kitchen equipment and procedures
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities to kitchen staff
  • Leadership qualities and ability to motivate team members
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Skilled in the culinary department
  • Ability to understand moderately complex oral and written instructions
  • ServSafe certified; and ServSafe Allergens certification recommended.
