Work Description:
BluePath Labs is looking for a dynamic Director of Engineering to lead our rapidly growing development and data analytics team. As a key member of our leadership, you will have the opportunity to grow and shape a team building cutting-edge data science (DS) and machine learning (ML) solutions supporting national security, research and development (R&D), energy, and other critical sectors. This position is especially suited for people with an entrepreneurial drive who enjoy supporting a diverse range of projects.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead the technical delivery of cloud-based software products for internal and external customers, ensuring alignment with BluePath's mission and goals.
+ Manage and optimize the engineering budget, cost estimates, resources, and timelines.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and business stakeholders, to define technical specifications and ensure operational feasibility.
+ Drive the architectural design and implementation of complex features and systems using best practices for system design and DevSecOps.
+ Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software through robust development practices, including test-driven development (TDD), code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD).
+ Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and best practices within the engineering team.
+ Oversee recruiting and mentoring of engineers.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ B.S. in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing a diverse set of projects.
+ Strong technical background in developing data-intensive web applications.
+ Extensive experience with cloud architectures (Azure or AWS preferred), testing, monitoring, and alerting.
+ Proven experience implementing TDD and CI/CD processes and tools for both new and legacy systems.
+ Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and various database systems, including PostgreSQL and ElasticSearch.
+ Strong bias for action, and an ability to manage multiple software products for a range of customers.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including external customers.
+ Demonstrated success in leading and growing high-performance engineering teams, including geographically distributed teams.
+ Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-scale applications to U.S. Government-managed cloud environments (e.g., CloudOne, PlatformOne).
+ Background in machine learning (ML), data engineering, and/or ML Ops.
+ Understanding of cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including CMMC, FedRamp, and SOC 2.
+ Knowledge of additional programming languages, including Rust and Go.
+ Masters or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
