The Senior Accountant position is a mid-level position in the Financial Reporting team located in the Carmel Corporate Office. This role will contribute to the success of the Company through financial reporting, internal controls, and process development. Individuals in this role will have the opportunity to work with the executive management team and gain experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Job Details

General Accounting

- Ensure timely and accurate accounting entries are made to the general ledger and subsidiary accounts.

Investment Accounting

- Ensure timely and accurate investment accounting entries are made to the general ledger.

Account Reconciliation

- Reconcile various general ledger accounts, corporate bank accounts and investment accounts.

Financial Statement Preparation

- Assist in the preparation of Statutory and GAAP financial statements on a monthly and quarterly basis.

Budget and Modeling Preparation and Analysis -

Assist in the preparation of Statutory and GAAP financial statements on a monthly and quarterly basis. Review and analyze actual results with projections.

Tax Accounting

- Preparation and/or review of premium tax returns as required. Assistance with preparation of monthly and quarterly income tax accruals and estimates. Review and preparation of various 1099 filings. Research various tax matters as needed.

Treasury Management

- Preparation of cash forecasting and modeling.

Reinsurance Accounting

- Preparation and review of reinsurance settlements as required.

Compliance

- Assist with the preparation and review of various compliance related tasks for the insurance companies.

Audit -

Provide general support for internal and external auditors as needed.

Report to and perform other work or projects as directed by management.

Job Requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting

CPA or CPA Candidate

Minimum 3 years public accounting experience preferred

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.

Detail-oriented with ability to be accurate in the completion of tasks.

Self-motivated with the ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Ability to analyze and draw conclusion from statistical data.

Ability to research various accounting and reporting topics, draw conclusion and present findings.

Extensive experience using computers and Microsoft Office products especially Excel.

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively. Skilled in clearly communicating complex concepts verbally including ability to answer customer service questions by phone and in writing.

Experience with software for regulatory filing and general accounting.
