Supports the operations team, by recommending areas of improvement, supporting floor operations, and solving day-to-day issues related to yield and productivity.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Maintain a good understanding of all Cold Mill production processes and material flowthroughout the Cold Mill2. Review "bottleneck" production lines in the Cold Mill. Propose and/or address projectsand solutions to improve productivity levels and/or quality. Work with area Supervisor,Group Leader, Maintenance Engineer, COQ Engineer and QC Engineer to accomplishtimely completion of projects.3. Report major consumable tracking both weekly and monthly for usage, cost andusage/ton for the Cold Mill.4. Analyze and propose actions to reduce consumable costs. Follow through with changesor trials for consumable cost reductions and report on progress.5. Track and analyze the effect of various process parameters on the finishing productquality, and suggest ways to improve said quality based on metallurgical insight6. Work with Technical Department to ensure that any changes/improvement in the processflow/control is adequately documented and is positively reflected on the company'squality reports and balance sheet.7. Track and analyze yield loss by product type, production line, and crew; and makerecommendations to maximize yield based on trend analysis and/or materials knowledge.8. Conduct research, perform data analysis, and communicate with floor personnel, tohighlight and tackle problem areas of the hot mill in an attempt to reduce downtime andscrap.9. Develop and review comparative benchmarking costs for consumables against otherAcerinox Group mills .10. Monitor ACIS system (CA, CI, PA, etc.) for CM operations and insure that action itemsand verification of results are being achieved in a timely manner.11. Participate in or lead other projects as assigned by the Cold Mill Manager.SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Other duties as assigned by the Cold MillManager.2. Participation in continuous improvement programs.MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:A degree in metallurgy or related field from an approved university/college (BS/BA) and/or work experience to the level specified by the Cold Mill Operations Manager. Supervisor experience preferred. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skillswith the ability to multi-task, and a firm grasp on the basic fundamentals of metallurgical practices. Previous training experience also preferred.PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:1. Mobility in plant.2. Visual ability with or without correction.3. Communication abilities.HEALTH AND SAFETY1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.2. Follow Company safety rules.3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor orManager immediately.4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:•Safety shoes•Safety glasses•Hearing protection•Hard hat5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of theOccupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.7. Maintain a clean and safe work area.WORK ENVIRONMENT:1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.2. Clean, well ventilated and safe work areas.
