Job Description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
This role is dedicated to delivering engineering services and technical assistance to the Cold Mill operations, focusing on enhancing efficiency, improving yield, and minimizing costs. The position involves collaborating with the operations team to identify improvement opportunities, support daily operations, and resolve routine challenges related to yield and productivity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Acquire a comprehensive understanding of all Cold Mill production processes and material flow throughout the facility.
2. Evaluate 'bottleneck' production lines within the Cold Mill. Propose and/or implement projects and solutions aimed at enhancing productivity and quality. Collaborate with area Supervisors, Group Leaders, Maintenance Engineers, COQ Engineers, and QC Engineers to ensure timely project completion.
3. Report on major consumable tracking weekly and monthly, focusing on usage, costs, and usage per ton for the Cold Mill.
4. Analyze and recommend actions to reduce consumable expenses. Implement changes or trials for cost reductions and monitor progress.
5. Track and assess the impact of various process parameters on product quality, suggesting improvements based on metallurgical insights.
6. Collaborate with the Technical Department to ensure that any modifications or enhancements in process flow/control are properly documented and positively reflected in the company's quality reports and financial statements.
7. Monitor and analyze yield loss by product type, production line, and crew; provide recommendations to maximize yield based on trend analysis and materials knowledge.
8. Conduct research, perform data analysis, and engage with floor personnel to identify and address problem areas in the hot mill, aiming to reduce downtime and scrap.
9. Develop and assess comparative benchmarking costs for consumables against other facilities within the Acerinox Group.
10. Oversee the ACIS system (CA, CI, PA, etc.) for Cold Mill operations, ensuring that action items and result verifications are achieved promptly.
11. Participate in or lead additional projects as assigned by the Cold Mill Manager.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Cold Mill Manager.
2. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
A degree in metallurgy or a related field from an accredited university/college (BS/BA) and/or relevant work experience as determined by the Cold Mill Operations Manager. Supervisory experience is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a solid understanding of metallurgical practices are essential. Previous training experience is also advantageous.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Mobility within the plant.
2. Visual acuity with or without correction.
3. Effective communication abilities.

HEALTH AND SAFETY:
1. Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
2. Comply with Company safety protocols.
3. Immediately report any absence or defect in protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager.
4. Utilize or wear the required safety equipment, including:
• Safety shoes
• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection
• Hard hat
5. Report any violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Company policy to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead, or Supervisor.
6. Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for designated machinery.
7. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Operate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
2. Ensure clean, well-ventilated, and safe work areas.
