Position Overview:
This role is dedicated to overseeing and enhancing product quality within the Melt Shop Department, ensuring that the product characteristics align with the objectives of North American Stainless.

This position may occasionally involve additional responsibilities aimed at increasing throughput and reducing costs in the specified areas.

Collaboration with the Cost of Quality Engineer - Yield will be part of this role, focusing on the collective effort to boost overall plant yield.

Additionally, the role encompasses projects aligned with the business improvement goals of the NAS/Acerinox group.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Assess all quality aspects in designated areas and establish clear goals for each product line.


2. Ensure that North American Stainless produces high-quality products at the most efficient cost while meeting timely deliveries for both internal and external customers.


3. Monitor the quality of all product lines to confirm acceptability and facilitate continuous improvement in quality and productivity.


4. Evaluate existing Work Instructions to ensure they adequately outline the necessary actions for producing acceptable products.


5. Initiate and oversee continuous improvement projects, tracking their progress.


6. Implement corrective and preventive measures to minimize the recurrence of issues.


7. Foster teamwork to support various quality enhancement initiatives.


8. Train personnel in team dynamics, consensus building, and problem-solving techniques.


9. Review any New Product or Major Product/Process Change Forms submitted within the areas of responsibility to ensure that changes do not negatively impact quality.


10. Monitor all New Product or Major Product/Process Changes to ensure compliance with the Quality System.


11. Address all Health, Safety, and Environmental concerns appropriately.


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Engage in continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications:
Minimum of a four-year technical degree from an accredited University/College (BS/BA) or equivalent work experience necessary to fulfill the position requirements.
