The Corporate Communications team ensures Vanguard's story is told with clarity, relevance and humanity across audience and channels. We are seeking a Manager of Social Content & Strategy (M3) to join the Corporate Social Media team. In this player-coach role, you will lead a team of talented content strategists, writers, and designers responsible for Vanguard's organic social media presence while serving as a liaison and relationship manager for some of our most important internal clients.

A passion for developing and implementing a data-driven social media strategy to connect with various audiences and tell engaging stories is a must.

You will counsel others on how social media can help them accomplish their business goals, staying abreast of the latest social media innovations and platform changes to make informed decisions. You live and breathe social media, understanding the intricacies of each platform and the importance developing content for to meet audiences' needs and expectations.

Previous formal leadership experience is not required, but experience as a mentor, coach, and trainer in previous social media roles is preferred.

  • Uses data to leverage social-first creative and content that aligns to enterprise messaging while utilizing innovative platforms and content formats to engage new and existing audiences and to delight them in unexpected ways.
Manager, Social Media Content & Strategy
  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Manages multiple complex internal and external stakeholder relationships. Evaluates client needs through consultations. Influences decisions across stakeholder groups. Regularly updates stakeholders and team on relevant issues and developments.
  • Leads social media marketing programs, initiatives, promotions, or research projects. Provides consultation and guidance on solutions that drive identified outcomes. Ensures prioritization of communications and messages that maximize impact on target audiences and business outcomes.
  • Coordinates the internal review and approval of material. Collaborates across divisions to collect feedback. Confirms revisions and provides approvals. Reviews content to ensure consistency with Vanguard style.
    Leads creation, writing, and editing of social media content based on understanding of target audience. Leads brainstorming sessions and planning meetings. Provides recommendations and guidance to others.
    Oversees process improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of social media marketing and its ability to execute on business objectives. Ensures that current and evolving industry standards are considered during process changes.
  • Develops and maintains deep knowledge of social media marketing practices and awareness of current and emerging issues. Oversees efforts to keep senior management teams and internal stakeholders informed of trends. Monitors upcoming and changing standards and regulations. Proactively adjusts internal best practices accordingly.
  • Leads the creation of campaign reports and provides actionable insight based on data. Shares meaningful reports and results with stakeholders. Presents trends and insights to inform social media strategy.
  • Ensures all steps are taken to mitigate risk. Oversees channel and platform audits. Communicates solutions on key issues within social media marketing activities to management and stakeholders.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
What it takes:
  • Minimum five years related work experience. Two years marketing experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
