BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity as a Technical Accountant at our Headquarters located in Glen Allen, VA.

Responsibilities

Prepares, reviews, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformity to reporting and procedural standards. Conducts complex assignments and analyses involving accounting projects and the daily maintenance of a general ledger. Identifies inconsistencies and problems and works to resolve them. Performs appropriate accounting controls. Participates in month-end closing, quarterly, and year-end GAAP and FERC financial reporting activities. Interacts routinely with internal and external customers. Advises project teams on specific accounting and internal control issues concerning new products, major business and organizational events, system conversions, system upgrades, and system enhancements. Provides functional advice or training to less-experienced accountants.

Qualifications

5-7 years of general accounting experience, or 4+ years of public accounting experience. Broad knowledge of U.S. General Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices, and procedures. Excellent computer skills, including Excel. Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Excellent analytical skills. Strong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Education Master (Typically two years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a master's degree.)

Preferred Degree Accounting, Business, or Finance

Preferred Licenses, Certifications, Qualifications or Standards Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
