Sales & Events Coordinator, Full Time

Opportunity Awaits on the beautiful Island of Hawaii...King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort Courtyard by Marriott currently has an opening for a talented Full Time Sales & Events Coordinator to share the aloha spirit and strive to create a memorable guest experience.
Brief Summary of Job: Responsible for supporting the Sales & Events team and the Director of Sales in administrative tasks.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:
Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing
personalized service to hotel guests.
Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members.
Maintain and distribute Sales & Events calendar
Enter and retrieve information contained in computer databases using a keyboard, mouse, or trackball to update records, files, reservations, and answer inquiries from customers and guests.
Prepare letters, memos, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software.
Operate standard office equipment other than computers.
Handle incoming and outgoing mail, including date stamping and distributing incoming mail.
Create and maintain computer- and paper-based filing and organization systems for records, reports, documents, etc.
Compile, copy, sort, distribute and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities, electronically and/or hard copy.
Enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point of sale systems.
Provide services that are above and beyond for guest satisfaction and retention.
Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others;
advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity;
leads by example.
Encourage and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
Manage and ensure sufficient stock levels of all sales collateral and corporate gifts.
Set-up and maintain an effective filing system for the Sales Department, both hard copies and electronic copies.
Partner closely with other departments within the Hotel to provide and ensure highest quality service to customers.
Utilize approved purchasing system for ordering and payment of invoices
Assist with travel arrangements for the Sales and Events team
Take or redirect phone calls and take messages as appropriate for the Sales & Events team.
Compile a selection of reports daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly.
Assist with taking reservations for corporate and VIP clients as needed/assigned
Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department, restaurant and hotel.
Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Knowledge/Education/Experience: Proficient in Microsoft applications. At least two (2) years previous experience in a similar role required. Hotel experience highly preferred. Experience with CI/TY hotel sales systems and other property management systems is highly preferred. Experience in a union environment is preferred but not required. High school or equivalent education.
Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail is required. English speaking or bilingual. Ability to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and complete work assignments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Ability to develop and maintain effective guest relations. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Dependable.
