Position Summary:

The Education Operations Specialist will provide operational support for the Education department. The primary function of this role is to provide accurate data and documentation to ensure that the department operates efficiently and professionally. These responsibilities include but are not limited to running reports, maintaining data documents, data collection, Education department external communication, and above all creating a culture of fun and hospitality among staff and guests.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all pertinent information is shared between Education Department, Guest Service, and Sales Department as it relates to all school groups, scheduled programs, and special guests.
  2. Confirm education school group orders in Tessitura.
  3. Generate education school group and home school reservations report.
  4. Account for student and adult totals and facilitate the reconciliation of Tessitura.
  5. Maintain accurate daily and weekly program attendance numbers.
  6. Answer e-mails and phone inquiries regarding education school group, Camp H2O and home school reservations.
  7. Create monthly Education newsletter to use for external communication.
  8. Generate reports and reconciliation of orders for Camp H2O.
  9. Greet and check in home school guests attending the Tuesdays in the Field event.
  10. Provide daily support of all on-site and off-site education programs.
  11. Update and maintain internal department site (Fishnet).
  12. Assist leadership team in the organization and execution of outreach programs, camps, and other special events.
  13. Provide the highest standard of customer service to guests.
  14. Adhere to all GAI Policies.
  15. Perform other duties as workload necessitates.
Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or Bachelor's degree preferred
  2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and Power Point.
  3. Working knowledge of Tessitura Point of Sale system preferred but not required.
  4. Ability to organize, manage time and set priorities while meeting deadlines.
  5. Positive and proactive attitude when serving guests and solving problems.
  6. Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external guests required.
  7. Ability to be flexible and shift priorities to meet departmental requirements.
  8. Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  9. At least 2 years' experience in hospitality or customer service industries.
  10. Enjoy working with children and around animals.
  11. Experience interpreting animal or museum exhibits is a plus.
