Job Title: North Pole Supervisor

Reports To: Special Events and Entertainment Manager

Type of position: Non-Exempt / Hourly

Employee Classification: Seasonal or Temporary, depending on date of hire

Location: Whittier, NC

Compensation: $15 - $18 hourly

Job Summary: Primary work will take place at the North Pole site in Whittier, where they will be supervising THE POLAR EXPRESS™ employees including Hero Boy, Hero Girl, Know-it-All Kid, Elves, and NP Santa.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The supervisor ensures that all North Pole employees are clocking in/out, approves their timecards, timecard changes, scheduling of North Pole Staff and monitors safety practices while on-site.
  • Assists with staff training.
  • Ensures that North Pole Staff are mentored throughout the progress of the event and feedback is provided based upon performance.
  • Perform performance-based audits to ensure acting standards are being upheld.
  • Ensure North Pole Staff are always animated in character throughout the event.
  • Ensure that company policy is always followed.
  • Delegates work detail and site assignments to staff daily.
  • Holds site staff meetings and uniform inspections.
  • Reports, monitors, or handles small disciplinary matters.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Special Events Manager.
Requirements

Education, Skill, and Work Experience Requirements:
  • One to two seasons of prior THE POLAR EXPRESS™ experience preferred.
  • Must have well-developed customer service, people, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to communicate successfully with a variety of personalities and function effectively as a member of a team.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English, possessing strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills with proven ability to supervise people.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule with night, weekend, and holiday hours.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stop, kneel, crouch, and reach for an extended period.
  • Dancing or involvement in choreography preferred.
  • Ability to bend waist and perform repetitive foot and hand actions.
  • Good hand/eye/foot coordination is required.
Work Environment:
  • Primary work will take place at the North Pole site in Whittier, NC.
  • Work on-site in varied weather during both daylight and dark hours.
