JOB SUMMARY The Operations Support Specialist is responsible for carrying out daily operations in the areas of warehouse management, shipping and receiving, inventory control, tool and vehicle check in/check out and other operational duties as directed by their manager to support in house manufacturing and field service projects. This role will be responsible for the safe and secure onsite storage and distribution of parts, equipment, tools, and inventory and is required to keep accurate and up to date stock records. As the Operational Support Specialist, you will need to safely operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead lifts, and pallet jacks to move large and heavy equipment. You will also use software such as Sage 50 and the Microsoft Office Suite to perform day to day tasks. Using all of the above, you will be responsible for ensuring that all BLTI departments have adequate access to the materials they need for smooth daily business operations. At BLTI, this role is unique in that you will also provide support to the Purchasing department in tasks such as creating P.O.s, expediting orders, and coordinating returns. Furthermore, you will contribute to the maintenance of the BLTI grounds and facility as well as the fleet of service vehicles. The Operational Support Specialist is required to look at ways to improve current processes to make them more efficient and effective. Training will be provided. JOB DUTIES Essential Duties: Offload and inspect goods on arrival and prior to dispatch and report any damage, defects, or discrepancies. Receive incoming shipments, verify contents to packing slip, and log receipt of materials into Sage 50. Sort, organize, and place materials on shelves and/or racks. Prepare and package materials, finished assemblies, and other outgoing items for shipment via UPS/FedEx, local courier, LTL carrier. Load outbound shipments onto carrier vehicles. Collect and file (hard copies and electronically) all documentation and signatures required to show proof of shipments. Liaise with Couriers / logistical companies to ensure timely collections / deliveries are maintained. Issuing stock from Warehouse to Production and Field Service Departments on a job to job basis. Ensure all items are accurately picked and packed according to pick list. Stock control including cycle counting of inventory, project materials, and BLTI tools and assets. JOB IDENTIFICATION Normal Work Schedule: M-F 7:00am to 3:30pm Job Title: Operational Support Specialist Positions Supervised: None Title of Supervisor: Material Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Perform annual physical inventory count. Perform check in/check out procedures for vehicles and tools. Perform inspection of returned vehicles and tools to assess condition / damage. Maintains company assets & tools in accordance with company guidelines. Monitor the condition of the BLTI Vehicle Fleet and Facility and report any maintenance issues. Perform routine maintenance, arrange yearly state inspections, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and other duties pertaining to company fleet. Perform or assist with interior and exterior facility maintenance tasks as requested. Run errands to vendors and hardware stores for miscellaneous items needed. Deliver or pick up materials, documentation from job sites or various other locations in and out of the immediate area. Provide accurate records of all Warehouse & Logistical transactions. Provide support to the Purchasing department when required. Provide support to the Production department when required. Recommend solutions or improvement to existing processes to reduce waste and increase department productivity and quality of deliverables. Maintain high housekeeping and organization standards by keeping work areas clean & tidy Marginal Duties: Other duties, as assigned, within ability and responsibility level of the job PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, load heavy pieces of equipment, and stand for long periods of time. Position requires bending and stooping. WORKING CONDITIONS Office, manufacturing shop, outdoors, and warehouse environment. Warehouse environment is not climate controlled. May be required to work overtime as needed. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 1-year experience operating a forklift. Forklift Operation Certified 3 Years of warehouse, inventory, shipping/receiving, or purchasing experience, preferably in a commercial/industrial manufacturing or services related company. At least 1 year of experience using Sage 50 or another ERP/Materials Management system. Experience with any of the following is a plus: electrical controls and components, security/access system components, CCTV components, fire alarm components. Great physical stamina and manual dexterity (able to lift up to 75 lbs). Team player Good organizational and time-management skills Great interpersonal and communication skills Problem solver SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE: Operation of Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, and overhead lifts. Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, etc.) Sage 50 Accounting (formerly Peachtree) or another ERP/Materials Management system. Inventory Processes- cycle counting, stocking, and sorting. Warehouse Operations- material handling, packaging, loading, unloading. Handyman/Mechanically inclined- able to identify and diagnose common problems that occur with facilities and vehicles and make simple repairs. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Must have a Texas valid drivers license and insurance.
