Development and Events Manager

We are seeking an organized, creative, and confident individual to help grow our fundraising efforts through this newly created position. Someone who has a personal passion for the conservation and enrichment of parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and other public lands.
As an essential member of our development operation, you will spearhead our corporate partner membership program, nurturing relationships with environmentally oriented businesses and shaping our engagement strategies. You will help facilitate the trade show at our annual convention, as well as the design and implementation of other fundraising events.
In this position, you will also identify and help draft grant proposals, monitoring the opportunities offered by foundations, corporations, and government grants. You will be our point person managing our donor database and routine donor communications. In sum, this role is perfect for someone interested in increasing their acumen and skills across a wide array of development activities in the service of Americas public lands. You will report to the Director of Philanthropy.
What You Can Expect in This Role
You will be expected to:
Lead corporate partner membership program
- Manage relationships with our corporate partner membership, including recruitment and renewal processes.
- Ensure corporate partners receive and access benefits.
- Coordinate registration of trade show exhibitors and onsite event management of the trade show in partnership with PLAs meeting planner.
Coordinate fundraising events
- Help manage and implement major fundraising and revenue-generating events, including: donation and sponsorship procurement; coordinating vendors, volunteers, and partners; and other event details.
- Design creative and meaningful sponsorship opportunities.
Manage stewardship process and oversee donor data integrity
- Enter and track gifts in our database (NeonCRM)
- Ensure donor database integrity by maintaining up-to-date constituent information and tracking engagement.
- Draft appeals and other routine correspondence with current and prospective donors.
- Coordinate the acknowledgement process for corporate, foundation and individual donors.
Support grant and proposal development
- Help research and apply for foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities, including assisting in drafting proposals.
- Monitor proposal deadlines and reporting requirements for grants.
Your Knowledge and Expertise
You will need:
- Minimum two (2) years experience in development, donor stewardship, membership, events management, or similar field.
- Successful experience in prospect identification, relationship building, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards. Experience with donor management systems.
- Excellent written communication skills, with experience in donor appeals and/or grant writing preferred.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Capacity to organize data and produce reports.
- Experience advancing projects collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Flexibility, sense of humor, humility, and confidence.
- Familiarity with public lands, outdoor recreation, and conservation principles, preferred.
